Diabetes or Diabetes mellitus is a pancreatic disorder, in which our pancreas doesn?t respond or stop producing a hormone called ?insulin?. Today we will be telling you about a very natural remedy of guava leaves, which maintains your blood sugar effectively.

Guava is one of the most easily available fruits in India and is also widely consumed. While it is known to improve immunity and has various health benefits, not everyone knows about the pharmacological properties of guava leaves. Guava leaf has been used in ancient medicine to treat fever and reduce inflammation, but it is also effective in managing diabetes and controlling blood cholesterol level.
A study published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism, says that guava leaf extract can reduce postprandial or post-meal blood glucose levels. The study shows that guava leaf extract can inhibit the action of alpha-glucosidase, an enzyme which breaks down starch and other carbohydrates to glucose. The study also compared guava leaf extract to voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor which is commonly used to treat diabetes. However, it was found that guava leaf extract had a milder effect than voglibose.
The study also says that drinking guava leaf extract with every meal improves other symptoms of diabetes like hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance and hyperlipidemia. Apart from controlling blood glucose level, guava leaf extract is effective in lowering blood cholesterol level too. It is believed to be effective in helping people with hypercholesterolemia. Guava leaves also have an anti-hyperlipidemic and reduces serum phospholipids, serum triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels.
Take fresh guava leaves and crush in a blender with small amount of water. Make it fine juice and strain into a sealed container.
Consume 1 tbsp of this juice early in the morning with empty stomach and 30 minutes before your main meal. Follow this remedy regularly and check the blood sugar level everyday at same time.
You can also prepare guava leaves tea by adding these leaves to two cups of boiling water.
You can also eat whole guava fruit without its skin can also reduce the sugar absorption in your blood
